Sunday morning ride, with added frost.

December 29th, 2013, 9am

This was a pretty excellent ride, despite the cold weather.

It’s a route I know well, so I just followed my nose. Very little traffic - in fact just the odd car, a few walkers, and one or two other cyclists.

There was a very thin layer of frost on the road for much of the length of the ride, and it was quiet enough that my wheels and I made a soothing ‘shhhhh’ sound as I rode along.

Fortunately the frost wasn’t black ice, and I didn’t have a single slip. I’d packed a sandwich and managed to ride all the way down to Winslow and back, making it a 36km/23 mile ride in all - I felt rather pleased with myself.

Here are a few more snapshots from the day:

 Frosty wheels

 Frosty fields

 Frosty roads

 More frosty roads

My wonderful machine and I took a break at Nash, as is now tradition

 The frosty junction at Nash

 Another more shady frosted junction

The route can be found on my MapMyRide page, if interested. (I had recorded the route using the MapMyRide app, but it failed, meaning I had to draw this one manually. I’m using Strava now instead.)

I read lots of stuff about old stuff and new stuff. I love diaries. I take photographs sometimes, and I like to ride my bicycle.
