There’s something about nature. I’m the type of person who loves to travel, who loves to explore. But I don’t find satisfaction in going somewhere glorious and amazing, and just sitting in my hotel all day. If there’s a mountain, I climb it. If there’s a lake, I jump right in. If there’s something I can’t do, well, I try anyway.
I don’t mind a little dirt under my fingernails. For that matter, I embrace it. Sometimes I like to sit on my front lawn and breathe in the air. Maybe that’s a little weird to you. But to me, that’s the only thing I could do everyday that brings me closer to nature. I don’t live by forests or mountains or fields. At most, I could go to a park and sit on a bench. But does that satisfy me? Not to the fullest extent. I’ll take what I could get, but a dirty park bench (please don’t remind me that the earth that I sit on is made of dirt) is not what I want to go outside to see.
More and more, I’ve been realizing that I’m a true nature geek. It’s not just a craving to go hiking, now it’s something I have an ache to do every second. Sure, my apartment is nice, but it’s definitely a contrast to the outdoors. Whenever I get a whiff of outside, I want to bottle it and hold it close.
Nothing is better than the earth. The beautiful earth that we start from and end from.
