Just finished 3D/2N Lares Trail Trek, the non-tourist alternative to the famous Inca Trail Trek. Like the Lord of the Rings with llamas, the scenery was breathtaking at literally every moment. We camped underneath the stars at 4200M and, with no other tourists in sight, slept to the sound of distant waterfalls. Along the way, we walked through Inca ruins, villages where children scrambled up and down steep slopes to say buenos días or sell a few trinkets, while managing our way past herds of llamas and alpacas. Felt my heart was going to burst from the thin air as we struggled up two 4600M passes —- and from the views we earned at the top.
