Having equal access to all aspects of community life is essential for everyone. It is extremely essential for people with disabilities trying to keep up with life. Communities need to do a much better job in universal design. Kids want to go where all the other kids go. Not to a special place just set up for wheelchairs…somewhat included but not at all integrated. Being a dad in a wheelchair is uncool to start, from most kids perspectives. A better world for me would be one where the disability disappears and all thats left is a true memory of the event with your kids, and one that is not held hostage to the barriers put in the way.
