Miles make things hard. Any kind of relationship can get chaotic, awful, and sad. Even more so when there are multiple miles between you and the person you are trying to have a relationship with. Unless you are content with texts and Facebook likes, miles make things hard.
I have family and friends all over the US, and I live in central Canada. I have a lot of cousins in the south, I have cousins in California, I have friends all over the East coast, so distance is something I am generally use to by now. Except this last week got me thinking; there is a guy who lives more than 2500 kilometers away and we both have an attraction for one another. We can’t have a normal relationship because of the 2500 kilometers, which won’t be shortened anytime soon.
I never realized just how much strain distance can put on a relationship until now. Up to now I have been content with my long distance relations being solely made up of random texts and Facebook likes. I want that desperate longing feeling to end, I want to see the people that I love so much in person for once.
You never get to have that normal relationship that everyone else is having. You don’t get to go to your aunts wedding, you can’t go on a regular date with your boyfriend, the first time you spent Christmas with your grandparents and cousins is when you’re 20 years old. You may even feel like your whole relationship is made up but remember this, they still picked you.
