Four stories high, this mural arrests the unwary eye as it passes down Houghtailing Street, nearing Nimitz Avenue.
I haven’t been to this part of Honolulu in many years, so this was definitely a new image for me. Also, this industrial part of town has undergone many changes, and felt unfamiliar, as my kids and I cruised down the street, searching for a seafood restaurant where the rest of the clan had gone to, for a late lunch.
It was overcast and rainy, and so colors were quite saturated. As the road curved and the mural appeared, its sudden hyper-realism caused me to step on the brakes a tad too sharply but, thankfully, there was no one immediately behind. We pulled over onto an empty parking lot, and snapped a couple of pictures, the three of us vying to see which one could do the best job.
As usual, I won. ;-)

When was the last time you let go, and lost yourself in a moment completely?
I went on an art walk! It was actually a little disappointing but the map was fun kind of.
I am so intrigued by doorways. But honestly, I am more intrigued by what lies behind them.
Our lives and the lives of others will always be caught between the struggle for war and peace, victory and surrender.
It's the thing to say.
What you leave behind.
Neither rain, nor sleet. Last day to mail presents and the queue is oddly not so bad.
