I started listing this timeline of foci at the beginning of each day’s journalling about a month ago. I never look back at what I wrote as foci for previous day, or week, or month, but instead sit and write what appear to be the most important foci at the moment of the writing.
This past week the effect of this practice began to make itself known. Things that I used to consider important but that also used to overwhelm me have been left behind and there haven’t been any disasters from me ignoring them. Life and work feel simpler, and meaning making is now happening on a regular basis instead of getting pushed aside by what I now see as imaginary demands.
