Do you know the feeling when you get out of your comfort zone? When somebody tells you that there’s another way of doing something, but you still stick to your “old” way?

I generally like to travel. Really. Seeing new places, meeting new people. Taking pictures. Trying new food. This is all very exciting to me. But right before the trip (when I pack my bag or I do all the travel arrangements), there’s something inside of me that tries to drag me into my comfort zone again. Every time I have to shake it off.

And this is really important, I think. No matter how long your flight was (after 10 hours in the air you stopped caring that much), no matter if your luggage was lost, traveling is always worth any hassle. Really. All that stuff in your lost bag you can buy again, a good night sleep will fix a long long flight. What you gain is the experience (what you see, what you feel) and that’s what matters. That’s what makes you a better you.

It’s a big world out there. Don’t limit yourself.

P.S.

Yesterday I spoke at Mountain West JS conference in Salt Lake City. Gave a tech talk on JavaScript. Really nice crowd, a lot of smart people.

Jess and Christine said thanks.
