Say cheese!

October 17th, 2013, 1pm

Hidden away off a back street just a couple of minutes’ walk from my office, the Dairy Art Centre is quite a place.

This fellow stands outside (along side a couple of giant mushrooms and a large white tree) but with no information panel to tell me anything more, so I have no idea who created this.

Inside is an amazing collection of items - a mix of 2d and 3d artworks, and today, a pianist about to give us a burst of Schubert and Debussy. Sadly I had no idea a recital was planned, so couldn’t stay. I had only wandered in to be nosey, having spotted the “DAIRY” sign a couple of days ago (when it was closed) and made a mental note to pop back later.

There was even a piece by Ai Weiwei, which was a great surprise for a small place that most people have no idea is there. What a gem. I shall definitely be going back.

I think I’ll have to reconsider what I’ve always said about hating modern art! I suppose a bit of humble pie never hurt anyone.
