A crunchy yellow carpet.

October 11th, 2013, 8am

It was 1°C with few clouds. The breeze was gentle.

Our neighborhood streets are framed by elms. In autumn orange and golden halos frame each yard.

Before people tear down the small wartime houses to build huge McMansions the city workers build fences around these majestic trees and post signs saying “Protected Tree. Do not damage or remove.”

Each time I left my house this week I made sure to spend a bit of time step-crunching through the yellow carpet on our lawn.
