Throughout my childhood, on various visits from the edge of London to the heart of it, Centre Point was that ugly, empty, needlessly-tall building that whenever glimpsed was instantly pointed out to me as a symbol of all that was wrong in 70’s Britain.
Now 40 years later, it increasing looks like it will become the heart of the new post-Cross Rail London, it is a grade II listed building and a poster child for the reclaiming of Brutalism.
It took a while but it got there…
