My March calendar picture

March 3rd, 2014, 2pm

It was 8°C with few clouds. The breeze was light.

Continuing my series of moments based on one of my unusual Christmas presents, here is the photograph for March. Rather disappointing, it has to be said.

This is the small burial ground outside Wesley’s chapel in the City Road, opposite Bunhill Fields, which was the subject of February’s calendar page.

John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, is buried here, but round the back of the chapel out of sight as far as the main picture on the calendar is concerned. I can only guess that the area in the main picture was judged by the photographer to be the most photogenic, which frankly doesn’t say much for the rest of it.

A quick check of the Wesley’s Chapel web site suggests to me that Wesley would not be too happy with the way things have developed there theologically since!

While I’m sure it’s worth a visit if you’re in the area, I would suggest spending most of your time across the road in Bunhill Fields.

But at least these two lads look like they’re having some fun :-)
