Sensory processing disorder or SPD is a disorder most often associated with Autism, and my brother thinks he has it. The way that he acts about certain things makes it very likely that he does, in fact, have SPD, he also has some symptoms that fit with Autism. He hates eye contact, he rarely looks at people when they are talking, but he can function. There is no doubt that he can function, that’s why it went unnoticed for so long. No one thinks there is anything wrong with introverted kids, they don’t think there is anything wrong with them when in reality there was something wrong.
I’m chronically ill, my brother is autistic, my mom has the worst luck. She couldn’t just get one kid who was different, she got two. My mom is so tough, she has the strength to deal with the craziness that can be thrown from my health and my brothers qwerks, (he hasn’t been diagnosed with autism, it’s just obvious he high functioning autism.) I’m so glad that she is as tough as she is because if not I don’t even want to know what would have happened. On the plus side, she’s 3 for 3 for having pretty awesome kids.
