Although almost everyone agrees that green issues are important, with most Governments at least making noises that would lend support to that view, in reality such issues rarely top the agenda. One things that some local Councils in London and elsewhere in the UK have been doing to show their support for green transport is to invest in having electricity recharging points like this installed, so that drivers of electric cars are able to replenish their juice ready for the trip home.
The trouble is, many of these Councils have come under fire for spending so much money on what it is still a very under-utilised facility (see, for example, this report about the situation in Brighton last year) .
I’m happy to stay out of the arguments about whether this is something that needs to be promoted more or not. But I would just say that the photo above shows the very first time I have ever seen this charging point being used.
I wonder how long I’ll have to wait until I see this for the second time?!
