If you ever find yourself in a sit-down restaurant in Thailand (i.e. not a stall on the street), you might come across one of these delightful concoctions in its own crispy little baskets, called “Krathong Tong” (which means the golden basket). It’s usually a mixture of potatoes stir-fried with onions, carrots, and minced pork spooned into individual baskets of deep-fried flour, topped with a few leaves of cilantro and a piece of red pepper for a colorful presentation.
A perfect blend of sweet and savory.
