I might be too fast to generalize in this sketch. A bit tooo fast. But, I do know that one thing that repelled me from MUNning (doing Model United Nations) is the amount of hostility I found in people already established as good delegates in these institutions. The fact that my opinion would not even be taken into consideration by the different delegates because I was new to this form of debating and thus, would not be recognized, was too much of a judgement on my character without knowing me. I did not like it. I did not like it at all. And, thus, after two MUNs, I quit.
What really got on my nerves is the fact that these guys had made me stop giving my opinion on different issues by just not listening to it. If I posted it on my blog, it would just be ignored like a piece of trash. And, with this mindset, I stopped giving my opinions about different issues in the world, even though I am burning and itching to put them out on the table and have a healthy debate.
And, the last thing that blew my top off was the fact that 17-18 year old boys, who were established delegates in Model United Nations, started their blogs recently and got loads of appreciation and feedback. Everyone was sharing their posts here and there, giving them a million followers. And, I, someone who has been blogging since the age of 10, when these guys had no idea what blogging was, has been ignored all her blogging life. Its not that I am not good. Like I said, my opinions were ignored. So, when I started posting about me, my life, motivation, studies, they are again ignored because they aren’t opinions. This ignorance towards my work, towards me, saps the will to write out of me. Writing is a very integral part of me, but when it isn’t appreciated or critically reviewed, it feels unimportant. As if there isn’t any use of me writing for myself, or for anyone for that matter.
It just sucks.
