Isn’t she a beauty? She’s my new bargain find in Crouch End, whilst out visiting my friend and her lovely 15-month-old daughter.
We had a fun morning dancing around the flat, laughing and giggling with abandon, and finding a fascination with buttons. My friend’s daughter was slightly confused when I told her that the cardigan buttons she was pointing to were called buttons - she kept wanting to lift my top to point at my belly button.
And back to this beauty. I learnt to type on a typewriter, similar to one like this. I wanted to be a journalist and thought that I should know how to type and do shorthand. I’ve long forgotten the shorthand, but I have a sense of peace when I hear the ‘clack, clack’ of typewriter keys. Maybe it will inspire me to get down to starting my novel …
I found this article about typewriters (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-20410364) and like what Will Self says about how the typewriter helps the writing process. I think I need to take it back to the beginning too!
