I see a gastroenterologist once a year which in a good year usually consists of questions about my bowel movements, poking and prodding my belly, and making sure I’m taking my colitis medication. This year I was downgraded (or perhaps upgraded due to lack of any flare ups) to see his nurse-practitioner instead of the doctor himself.
That appointment was supposed to be today.
But yesterday after an exciting collaborative meeting and biking up the University bridge I began to feel the throat itchiness, the nose drippiness, the joint achiness, and the malaise that my husband has been feeling since last Friday. He’s been laid up on the couch for four days watching Cowboy Bebop.
So I gave in to the flu last night.
I cancelled my voice students’ lessons yesterday and called the gastroenterologist’s office first thing this morning. I figure the hospital outpatient area doesn’t need these fluey achey germs.
