I’ve used this station for well over a year now and this is the first time I’ve actually noticed the sign, ‘Euston Road’ before. My excuse is that it’s on the return leg of my journey, when I’m dashing to jump on a leaving train, on the first part of my commute home, and the last thing I want to do is hang around.
But hang around I did this evening as there was a short delay. And I’m glad I did. It pays to stop, look up and take in your surroundings every so often.
A quick Google search uncovered that this station opened in 1907, called Euston Road, but changed it’s name a year later. The tiling still remains.
I like that I am surrounded by history. And that this platform shows it off proudly in this wooden frame. It just needs a few more people to stop and look!
