I’d been wanting to get to the amazing fountains in Granary Square, King’s Cross Central, at night time for ages. I’d heard how great they look when they’re all lit up. I finally got the chance last Friday - Reformation Day (or to use the more common identifier, Halloween) - when the pumpkins on the steps down to the Regent’s Canal were all lit up too.
The sight was indeed magical, especially when all 1,080 jets were aglow with orange-red light. And what really made it was the fact that it was unseasonably mild - having reached 24 C earlier in the day! - and the end of school half term holiday, which meant there were loads of kids splashing through the water (and toddlers in nappies/diapers!), just enjoying the occasion and without parents fretting over their little darlings getting frozen. Wonderful!
