Kings Cross railway station

March 21st, 2014, 12pm

The approach to Kings Cross station since its redevelopment is just beautiful now.

I remember coming to and from this station to get to gigs at nearby venues like the Scala, Water Rats, the Lexington and so on, and the green corrugated awning structure which used to occupy this site was hideous. It felt shabby, unsafe, and really took away from the grandeur of the historic station that lay within. Worse, Kings Cross lay almost in the shadow of the stunning architecture of St Pancras station next door.

But now that the entire forecourt structure has been ripped down, the beautiful façade of Kings Cross has been revealed for the first time in 150 years. And what a stunning sight it is. It really feels like a destination now, as all great railway termini should.

I read lots of stuff about old stuff and new stuff. I love diaries. I take photographs sometimes, and I like to ride my bicycle.
