How to be a fashionable yet warm concert-goer during the Saskatchewan winter.

December 8th, 2013, 2pm

It was -22°C with few clouds. The breeze was gentle.

  1. Shower at least an hour before leaving the house so all your nooks and crannies dry.

  2. Check the temperature and wind chill (today it’s a mere -35C after yesterday’s -40C)

  3. Lotion. Wait 20 minutes. Lotion again.

  4. Don the following: merino wool tights, little black sweater dress, the warmest scarf that will fit under your down coat, wrist warmers.

  5. Prepare outerwear: goose down coat, knee-high boots lined with sheepskin, another scarf, wool hat lined with fleece or perhaps your grandfather’s Russian black lamb hat with ear flaps down, gloves, mittens that fit over gloves.

  6. Share a ride because if one car doesn’t start due to forgetting to plug in the block heater, another will.

  7. Be warm and attentive at the concert. Enjoy.
