Day 16 #100happydays: Embracing laziness

June 8th, 2016, 11pm

It was 15°C with no clouds detected. The breeze was light.

Ever since I was little, I’ve always felt the need to be industrious. Sitting around doing nothing was frowned upon. And if it was sunny and nice out, I would feel that I’d wasted the day being indoors.

Well, today was nice and sunny, but having gone out for two days of my holiday, I was feeling tired from being out and about, and the commuting, so I allowed myself a day to spend in my pyjamas (okay, I only lasted until around 11am but that’s huge for me), pottering on my balcony garden, tweeting and general internet surfing. I was enjoying being lazy, and listening to Lauren Laverne on BBC Six Music so tweeted about it. It made my day to get a shoutout on the radio, and for my tweet to be read out!

And in the afternoon, I was feeling creative so allowed myself some non-lazy time by making a new baby card for my friend, who had a son on Monday (the photo is of the papercut pram - I like the shadow it cast in the glorious sunshine) and then I started on a new woodcut print. I haven’t quite got the hang of patience so quickly sketched out a design and started cutting already. I’m going with the unpreparedness of it! (People who know me know that I’m a perfectionist and want things just so before I can make a start on things, so this is a good departure for me!)
