Nostalgia - double-edged sword. Both the best and worst thing to happen to videogames / sports / music / CULTURE. When I moved to London from Canada I was ready for a lot of things, but one thing I was not prepared for was how much people here love The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
Don’t get me wrong - I was a fan. A big fan, I thought. But my fandom does not compare, does not cheer in the same city, nevermind stadium, as the fans of my new home. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air commands a mythic sway over the fashion and sensibilities of East London; if Will Smith ever comes off his Scientology jag he can start a new cult in Shoreditch.
