Just as good fences makes good neighbours so do well-tested railings make for a reduced likelihood in railings-related insurance claims. The UK’s leading authority in testing railings (and other domestic and non-domestic storage and protective facilities) is British Railings. Their HQ in Reading (known colloquially as the Quantified Shelf) is able to test all manner of railings in all manners of conditions but the boffins will always insist on a minimum amount of ‘in situ’ testing. This test centre is their London annex - railings are placed here to ensure they can stand London’s uniquely thick air and acidic rain. Bicyclists be warned - these railings might not be here when you return for your bike.
