Behind a stewardess in line at security. She carries no bags, just a paper lunch bag. She anticipates each move even when the line is slow and lazy. She explains that her bags are still on the plane.
She tries to strike up a conversation with the security crew.
“Serving people their food all day, no time to eat. Don’t steal my lunch now.” One agent offers the most perfunctory of smiles. “No time to eat all day.” Two agents giggle over an unheard joke.
I’m at the bar and she comes up along side me.
“Could I trouble you for some ice for my coffee? I need this coffee now, not in 20 minutes.” The bartender scoops a handful into her steaming paper cup. “Take care now.” “You know, I just need it right away.” He goes back to the tv.
Later I see her collecting boarding passes, a perfunctory smile for the passengers.
Where did she go in between flights?
Meant to work a lot today. Got to mission and caught up on life instead.
