Time does give you a new perspective

October 3rd, 2014, 9pm

It was 23.3°C. The wind was calm.

I turned 40 in September… It used to be that 40 or even 30 felt so far away and the thought of what people call a midlife crisis was the farthest away from my mind.

I tend to be a person of polar oposites, either/or, black and white. But this past couple weeks have helped put things and years in perspective. It started with the quote below and with a conversation I had with a friend.

“You never conquer the mountain, You only conquer yourself.” — Jim Whitaker

It has taken me years to finally accept this. It’s a similar thought to the serenity prayer, particularly the wisdom about knowing the difference between what you can change and what you can not.

Christine, Emma and Shu said thanks.
