I went for a walk this lunchtime round Russell Square.
Created in the first decade of the 19th Century, Russell Square is one of a number of Squares built on the Bloomsbury Estate, land owned by the Dukes of Bedford.
The photo above shows the rather grand Hotel Russell, built in 1898 to a design by the architect Fitzroy Doll. It was apparently meant to imitate a red brick French château.
