Flies in the Rose Garden

July 15th, 2014, 10pm

I don’t usually do selfies but these Mayflies were so cute. (Yes, so named even though it’s July). Many, many hitched a ride as I wandered about in the pine barrens next to Lake Superior scouting the blueberry crop. (Unfortunately more bugs than berries!). When they hatch, they number more than the US debt.

My friend says biting black flies cut short her time enjoying the City Rose Garden. The subject line of her email: “Flies in the Rose Garden.”

A teenaged nephew who loves fishing rolled his eyes when I asked if he was going north with his father into the wilderness to fish. “The air will be black with mosquitoes,” he complained.

That sums up Minnesota today!

Shu said thanks.
