Flickering gas and glittering steel: winter nights in the market.

December 12th, 2014, 5pm

Old Towne Toronto. Muddy York. St Lawrence Hall, once seat of our city government1. The lights and towers in the near distance, past St James Cathedral, mark Yonge Street and beyond.

Real gas lamps, yes. And here I am silently swearing at a page being slow to load on my pocket computer.

What would our firebrand rebel mayor think? I suspect he’d be all for social media revolutions.

Juxtaposition. My city does it a lot.

  1. Whoops, botched my history. It’s the South Market Hall, once called New Market House, that was city hall from 1845 to 1899.
