Summer officially ends in Australia on 28 February, not on the equinox. It is at once our most loved season (beaches, barbecues) and most feared (bushfires, snakes). And, since the world has decided to ignore scientific warnings about climate change, it may someday become our most hated season. Best current projections suggest that (without immediate climate action) we can expect our summer temps to reach as high as 50C (125F) in the next 40 to 50 years or so.
There’s a lot of things to do to beat the heat. Click on the pic above to see one example down in the lower right hand corner. That’s Erskine Falls by the way, one of 10 to 15 waterfalls within about 20 k of our place. We’ll need ‘em!
