Home of The Goose Chaser

July 26th, 2014, 10am

It was 25°C. The breeze was light.

The gent I call “The Goose Chaser” at the Yacht Club shooed grazing geese from the Yacht Club lawn again this morning as he does most every day the geese come to nibble on Yacht Club grass. ( Both goose and elderly chaser waddle at a good clip.) A few of the geese flew to get away but not very high nor fast. It seems their ability to fly returns gradually as their new flight feathers regrow after molting. Apparently right now the geese find flying too much work to be useful except to avoid a goose chaser.

He seems to do it on the way from his boat (OK yacht) to the bathroom in the club house. I’d guess we are the same age and tell you I could never chase geese in the morning without emptying my bladder first. So in addition to being a good goose chaser, he is also a bladder champ!

I wonder if he is elected to the position “Goose Chaser” at the Annual Meeting of the Yacht Club or because of natural antipathy to Canada Geese he volunteers to rout them between the first light of dawn and first pee?

Of course, I could go stand at the fence some morning and ask him, but why dispel the mystery and end the fun of wondering as I drink my first cup of coffee each morning?

Shu said thanks.
