Smell is really evocative. I love the smell of tomato leaves. It definitely says summer to me, and hope, hope that the tomatoes will ripen. It’s also slightly tinged with disappointment - when you realise that despite all your best efforts, the tomatoes won’t get any bigger, or ripen.
And yet I continue to follow gardener, Monty Don’s advice, who said on this week’s episode of Gardeners’ World, that we should trim off all the leaves to help direct the nutrients to the plant. Good luck!
