Looking forward at Franklin Pierce: A bittersweet walk through the Graphic Arts hallways.

March 26th, 2014, 7pm

I never thought I’d be leaving Franklin Pierce in the midst of so many cultural shifts. Franklin Pierce no longer offer majors or minors in American studies, theater and dance, graphic communications, fine arts, math, and arts management.

We always study history around us, but it’s a surreal feeling to know you’re directly a part of history being created.

It was something many student failed to pay attention to until it was too late. Finances and marketing strategies dominated experiencing the arts. The era of Liberal Arts is no more.

I walk these halls and wonder what this floor will look like in two years. Five years. Ten.

I believe what a school offers, or doesn’t, drastically changes the people you attract and the experiences you want to nurture as a school.

Franklin Pierce has a long way to go, just as many other Universities. However, not every school can handle the tides of change.

I take one of the last silent walk through the place I called home for the last five years, and I wonder if students will keep making it out of here.

I wonder what their stories will be, and how totally different their blip in history will be at Franklin Pierce.
