It's a foggy start today

December 10th, 2013, 6am

I find fog fascinating (how sad am I?!)

Obviously you can’t see very far, but it influences other senses too.

Everything sounds different in thick fog. The density forces an eerie silence even in usually-noisy places.

The temperature changes too. The air always feels colder… and wetter of course. I suppose those two things are connected but I can’t be bothered to work out the physics of it all.

And I reckon there’s even a taste to the fog. Dampness has a taste, doesn’t it? Or perhaps that’s just me, in a hallucinating half-asleep state on the platform at 6am :-)
