When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of golden..., er, oil seed rape

March 29th, 2014, 4pm

Yes, we did see lots of daffodils when we went on our little trip on Saturday afternoon, but we also saw fields of oil seed rape beginning to come into flower.

The smell is quite pungent, and these big fields can be a challenge for hay fever sufferers, but they do look wonderful when in bloom.

Many years ago I remember seeing fields of oil seed rape interspersed with fields of linseed. A magnificent chequerboard of yellow and purple. But I’ve never seen it since, which is a shame.

Lia and Paul said thanks.
