Acrylic cuts

June 26th, 2014, 11am

This shot amounts to nothing much, photographically. And still it means a lot to me. It shows part of my first photo exhibition ever. Only after we were done hanging the pictures, I realized I had wanted to do this for ages. Maybe since I had been a kid, even. It was only eleven pictures, a video and a reading, but I still see it as a dream come true. Eleven years after I got into photography I could show eleven of my pictures at an actual gallery. For a whole month. The pictures were on sale, and I actually sold one.

My exhibition, as part of a larger effort by my artist’s group “Tübinger Holzmarkt”, was called “Die verbesserte Natur” which can be roughly translated as “On improving nature”. What I meant by that title I explained during that aforementioned reading. The grand opening took place on June 28, the exhibition was closed on July 26, 2014.

The four pictures shown here, from left to right:

  1. Surrender to the flowerships
  2. Poema
  3. Come and be rested
  4. The crystal palace

Oh, and the edges of that layer of acrylic glass protecting the images? They cut like they were made to. Gloves definitely recommended.

I made a movie about the exhibition (German only).

Adrian, Sanna, David Wade, Ragini and 3 others said thanks.
