Measures

November 18th, 2013, 4pm

Even though it’s benign there are few things stationary about the station. The hustle & bustle my hometown can muster takes place here. It’s enough to make you wonder: how can all this be stopped in its tracks? Obviously the real station is constantly obscured by a veneer of commotion & purpose. Movies had taught me time can be mastered. Inspired by earlier experiments (s. “1961”) I suspected my camera was just what I needed. I took it to the station and had time stand still. Some features of the building revealed their enormous age right away. Tired but not yet broken they stood the test of commerce & transportation - as they had done since Roman, Trojan or even Sumerian times.

Reality can’t fool me anymore. These massive staircase railings aren’t here since 1916. They were ancient when Cesar died.

Chris, Cassie, Samuel and Lia said thanks.
