It’s a standard joke the world over that it’s always wet and cold in England. Ordinarily I would argue strongly against that assertion, but I have to admit that just lately is has indeed been rather wet here!
My wife and I went for a drive this afternoon to a few of the places where we did our courting more than 25 years ago, including Shoreham, on the River Darent. As you can see from the photo, the river has overflowed somewhat, and unfortunately more rain has fallen since. This is certainly a difficult winter for many.
