Intermittent

December 12th, 2013, 12am

You know what movies are, don’t you? They are dreams, revealed through technology. So we meet every thursday to watch other people dream.

We’ve done so for years. To my total amazement you cried when Darth Vader was burned on that pyre. We both feared the worlds depicted in Pan’s Labyrinth. We saw nearly everything of Hayao Miyazaki, and it still shows in your manga drawings. I could go on for quite some time.

The silly & the serene. Gunslingers & lovers, saints & demons. The hero with a thousand faces.

Over time you changed. You’re not lisping anymore. You graduated from school, found a calling, started a career. Soon you’ll be 18, a grown up.

I made movies an integral part of your childhood & youth. I’m not sure I could have thought of a better education.
